Despite being a physics teacher, my real vocation is travelling.
In between travels, or often whilst I’m travelling, I love to play with words and ideas. Fiction is far more fun than textbook writing. My future-set series of novels, starting with 2089, is about a gently post-apocalyptic, Orwellian future England. Something like 1984 meets Station Eleven.
I’ve also developed a great series of detective novels featuring the duo Penfold and DS Tony Milburn. Based in Durham City CID, DS Milburn and his civilian foil, the kiwi surfer, Penfold. 
Naturally, a lot of the background for Penfold comes from trips to New Zealand. Although it’s much more about back story, he’s very firmly set living in northeast England.
